Part-time home cleaning scheme expanded to include basic minding services for children, elderly

Families will be able to engage migrant workers to help look after their children or elders on a part-time basis from tomorrow. The Manpower Ministry will launch a two-year pilot programme to expand the scope of the Household Services Scheme, which previously covered only cleaning services. 25 companies have joined the expanded programme. To check on its effectiveness, MOM said it will monitor the pilot and take in feedback from both providers and households. Currently, around 21,000 homes are tapping on the HSS programme for part-time cleaning services.
